A project was carried out involving the development of a sterilizable sensor for measuring the orientation of the acetabular cup impactor-positioner during total hip arthroplasty (THA). The sensor was easily mounted on the tool and had a light system that assisted the surgeon in positioning it intuitively.
Orientation sensor for total hip arthroplasty
- 3D orientation sensor
- Autonomous device to assist the surgeon during the alignment of the acetabular cup impactor/positioner in total hip arthroplasty operations
- For the milling of the bone and the placement of the acetabular cup
Low-cost and reusable device
- Rigid fixation to any impactor/positioner (1)
- Waterproof and sterilizable 3D printed box (2)
- Simple interface for guidance
